Dear Fifty,
As I reflect upon recent events, I would like to just share a couple of thoughts with you. First of all, how grateful I am for you all in my life. I cannot imagine what it would be like without “my people.” Too quiet for my taste, that’s for sure! Thank you for all you do. Secondly, with all the unrest we are experiencing right now, it occurs to me that we have some choices. We can give into the media hype, or turn it off. We can isolate, pull away, or we can be of service to another whose need is greater than ours.
I remember one of the many lessons Dad taught me. “Son, try to do at least one act of kindness for someone else every single day, and don’t tell anybody you did it.” This has proven to be a great lesson for me, when I finally heard him. Thanks, Dad…again.
Through these challenges, may we all remember what (and Who) is most important. The answers to all our questions are there, and I suspect we already know all we need to know to get past this.
Years ago, I learned this prayer, and I’d like to share it with you now. God bless, dear friends.
Prayer of St. Francis
Lord, make me a channel of thy peace, that where there is hatred, I may bring love;
That where there is wrong, I may bring the spirit of forgiveness;
That where there is discord, I maybe bring harmony; that where there is error, I may bring truth;
That where there is doubt, I may bring faith; that where there is despair, I may bring hope;
That where there are shadows, I may bring light; that where there is sadness, I may bring joy.
Lord, grant that I may seek to comfort rather than to be comforted; to understand than to be understood; to love, than to be loved.
For it is by self-forgetting that one finds; by forgiving that one is forgiven. It is by dying that one awakens to Eternal life.
Peace to you,
